First, in the last year, I have become obsessed with Fredrik Backman. It's one thing to write a plot and characters you never want to leave, but he takes it a step further. There is a qwerkiness about his descriptions that make me a jealous author. Even characters that aren't behaving properly, are loveably relatable. He also manages to have the most lackadaisical vibe while writing a mystery you can't wait to solve. It's an absolute mystery how he pulls this off. My first read was Beartown. My favorite (now in my top 5 all time fav books ever) is Anxious People. It is filled with loveable characters that made me laugh and cry, but mostly laugh.
I also loved A Man Called Ove. (In case you read instead of listen to the audiobook - the name is pronounced Ooo- Vay, not OF, like I assumed.) And lastly, so far anyway, is My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She's Sorry. The only downside from this one, is how little you get of the Grandmother, because she's a a crazy person, but her granddaughter holds the story well.
